White House addresses suggestion from McCain that Obama dump Biden: "one place I would not go for advice on vice presidential running mates is to Senator McCain."

Courtesy of the Daily Caller:

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Vice President Joe Biden will be President Barack Obama’s running mate in the upcoming election, putting to rest any speculation about Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stepping into the number two spot.

Carney was asked by Ed Henry of Fox News to “settle” the issue “once and for all” and say whether or not Biden will remain on the ticket.

“Yes and that was settled a long long time ago,” Carney said. “And while I appreciate, I have great admiration for and respect for and a long relationship with John McCain but one place I would not go for advice on vice presidential running mates is to Senator McCain.”

Oh, oh, oh, you just KNOW there will be some flying canned goods in old Wasilla tonight!

That'll teach her to open her ignorant mouth.

What am I saying? This idiot does not have a learning curve, she has a bottomless pit of ignorance. I doubt she could learn that fire's hot if somebody poured gasoline all over her and set her ablaze.

You'd think that McCain would figure out that a VP pick is NOT something he should speak about. It really makes me wonder just how far his dementia has progressed.

Meghan, I'm not a big fan, but I respect that you have a strong voice. Can't you give your dad a clue?

Seriously I agree, although I don't believe he has a dementia problem, unless this was a slip on his part, someone must keep reminding him to avoid at all costs from making any comments about VP picks. I'm sure he knows this, but it might have been just too tempting politically for him not to say something. His career and reputation has already has been seriously damaged by picking someone so incompetent for VP as Palin, he can't afford to damage his reputation any further. If he was represented any state that was any less conservative than Arizona, he would probably be fighting to keep his Senate seat.

meghan recently tagged vp Biden as an idiot. I don't put much stock in what she says anymore. Anyone who can call the vp an idiot when their idiot father chose the biggest idiot to ever walk the earth as their running made has no credibility in my book. she likes the lime light as much as the palins and occasionally riles up the r's by standing up for some sort of tolerance but that's about it...until she comes forward and openly admits sarah palin is an effin' idiot and the biggest mistake her father ever made I'll choose to ignore meghan.

Well, Obama would know. He is after all the political equivalent to Sarah Palin. His party used his race to win the election and make any anti-Obama folk (aka smart people) seem like racists. GOP used her gender. Other than those two things, both candidates were fully unqualified for their national offices.

ah, 2:04pm, you certainly are a gem among gems! I'd have to reword your statement as thus: Obama's party was blind to his race, we looked towards his ideas and education and previous accomplishments when voting for him. We didn't really notice his race; polite people of higher intelligence have generally evolved beyond such trite observances. GOP, on the other hand did recognize Sarah's gender, but after realizing that she was an empty suit with no real accomplishments they recognized in her the "Pitbull" mentality and have been using her as an attack dog ever since, especially regarding Obama's race. She's been unchained a thousand times to give speeches full of hate and racism and released from her kennel to "excite the base", ie, stir up feelings of racism and its' associated hatred within the uneducated class of lower Republican base individuals. She's proven her worth a million times over as a hater, a divider and a shit-stirrer. She, however has never proven herself to be an educated, calculating politician that has America's best interest at heart. If anything, she is set loose to foment the next Civil War in America. She's a low IQ junkyard dog. To compare her to Obama is at best a fool's errand.

    9. Please 2:04, this is getting tiresome. Now try to follow along, I'll keep it simple for you and the other "smart people". Sarah Palin did not run against Barak Obama. John McCain ran against Barak Obama. She was not the top of the ticket, she was picked by McCain to run at his side. Her only job, and she couldn't even manage that for what, 8 weeks?, was to support McCain's platform and back him up. Her job was not to "go rogue" and contradict him in public. I'm sure, if Joe Biden (or any other VP candidate in history) had a disagreement with his running mate, he would solve it behind closed doors, face to face, and not go off in front of reporters and cameras. (like Michigan)

The proper person to even try to compare her with is Mr Biden (or other VP candidates) so please keep the comparisons a little more realistic, shall we? Dan Quayle perhaps?

And since Palin already filled every opportunity she has had to make as many negative comments about President Obama as she could, there is nothing more she can say to get revenge since it will just sound like her normal self. This has got to be very frustrating for her and making her feel as if she has no way of getting back anymore than she already has. At a time when she must know she is rapidly losing supporters and that her FOX contract may be in jeopardy, she must be feeling awfully low right now. Anytime I try to wrap my mind around the fact McCain chose her for his VP my mind simply shuts down. No way is this person capable of critical thought. She is unable to think even one move ahead even if it bit her ass. She is profoundly challenged. Nobody in her shoes would ever reference the VP race. She is absolutely without self reflection, gravitas or intelligence. She is just raw bar chew and a mall walker. I am convinced Fox keeps her up there for the entertainment factor. And, that is quickly fading.

How come people are giving Sarah Palin a hard time?

Sarah is very knowledgeable. She had the Wasilla hockey built on time and under budget. She hired qualified state workers as governor. She completed her term as governor. Very fair and honorable to everybody. A servant to the people.

So I don't get it. Why do you people mistreat her?

      Best snark ever!
Nothing says "competence" like building a municipal complex on land the city doesn't own! (So maverick!) And leaving your tiny town with $20 million in new debt.

4:42 You obviously have no direct knowledge of Palin in Alaska.

She did NOT complete her term as governor - she QUIT mid-way through. She left Wasilla very much in debt when she played Mayor. She stole from the hockey construction and had her first house built with some of those items. She is not honorable - the Alaska Legislature found her unethical even though she denied it while on the campaign trail w/McCain.

She's mistreated so many folks and her family members throughout her life and continued doing so since being brought on the national stage.

She is really getting her due now and it's coming at her from every direction (on the national level and from Alaska!). She deserves it!! She has been a horrible embarrassment to Alaskans, women and now the Republican party doesn't even want her.

She's a liar and fraud from the top of her wigged head down to her dirty feet!

The White House Silences McCain’s Dump Biden Babble With Two Words: Sarah Palin

To paraphrase Jay Carney, if we ever want advice on how to nominate the worst running mate in history, we’ll give you a call. It takes some serious nerve to unleash the Sarah Palin on the world, and then call for the dismissal of the guy who beat her.

In all fairness the Romney vetting process of Paul Ryan is showing signs of being able to give McCain a run for his money in terms of ineptitude, but until Ryan hits the lowest valley of failure, then drops another level, we can’t take Sarah Palin’s one remaining crown away from her.

What McCain was trying to do was push Romney’s already dead “in chains” controversy. The Romney/Ryan campaign itself killed any chance of that taking off with an awesome one-two punch of incompetence highlighted by Romney reviving the issue of his tax returns, and Ryan claiming he didn’t, but then later having to admit that he did request millions of dollars in stimulus money.

John McCain woke up this morning and was under the impression that he was going to be part of big GOP team effort to create controversy around Biden. Instead, he found himself alone on an island getting smacked around by the White House, while Romney sabotaged his own efforts to get elected.

When America needs bad advice, whether it be on the economy, foreign policy or running mates, we can always count on John McCain show us exactly what not to do.

Beer Battered Mitt: How Obama is Using Beer to Defeat Romney

Have noticed how often President Obama is mentioning beer on the campaign trail? This is no accident. In fact, it is a calculated political strategy.

Even in the White House, Barack Obama has still been a bit of regular guy. Well, as regular as a guy can be while being President of the United States. Obama loves his family, likes sports, shoots hoops and has an image in many ways of being the prototypical guy, who just happens to also be the most powerful man in the world.

This personal likability has kept the president afloat even during his toughest professional times. No matter what has been going on in the country, majorities of Americans have always personally liked Obama. Mitt Romney, who Americans have never warmed up to, has been trying to chip away at the president’s likability with constant claims that Obama is a liar who is diminishing the office of the presidency with his reelection campaign.

The Obama folks have found an interesting way to negate Romney’s attacks before they ever get started. On the campaign trail, President Obama has not been shy about displaying his taste for an ice cold brew.

The thing about Obama and beer is that it is genuine. Remember the Henry Louis Gates incident, and the Beer Summit at the White House in 2009? This is not new, but the president is using a sudsy strategy to define and defeat Mitt Romney.

If there is one thing Mitt Romney is not, it is a regular guy. Romney appears to be campaigning on the fact that he is not a normal guy. The Republican nominee has embraced his status as the defender of the super rich and claims that anyone who doesn’t like him is jealous of his money.

It is also safe to say that because of his Mormon faith you’ll never see Romney hanging out and drinking a beer. The Obama campaign has taken Romney’s faith off of the table, but the sight of Obama drinking a beer is a visual reminder that Mitt Romney isn’t like most Americans. No matter what the reason, Mitt Romney doesn’t come off like an everyday guy who understands your problems.

The age old question of presidential candidates that voters have been asked for decades is would you like to have a beer with this candidate? In 2012, it isn’t even close. When voters were asked last month which candidate they found more likable, Obama led Romney, 63%-27%. Voters like Obama, and they don’t like Romney.

    The president is angry.

The president is an angry man.

    The president is black.

The president is an angry black man.

That is the four-point plan on "the economy" on which Willard Romney apparently intends to run for president for a while. For the past week or so, beginning shortly after committing himself fully to zombie-eyed granny-starving while a baffled nation went, "whaaaaa?" in 300-million-part harmony, Romney has become more and more convinced that he is being treated shabbily by the political process and that, at the heart of this untoward disrespect from The Help, is that... person who currently has the job for which Willard has applied. He is simply not going to stand for this sort of thing anymore, and he is going to informthat... person that there are things that simply... are... not... done. And he is sure that the genuine folks among The Help — the ones that know their place, and that know what people like Willard Romney have done for them, and who are properly grateful for it — will rise to support him.

"If you look at the ads that have been described and the divisiveness based on income, age, ethnicity and so-forth, it's designed to bring a sense of enmity and jealousy and anger and this is not in my view what the American people want to see," Romney said.

    Ethnicity?

    And so forth.

    Ethnicity?

    And so forth.

If he blows that dog-whistle any louder, Seamus may return from that great roof-rack in the sky.

This should surprise absolutely nobody, because, if there's one thing candidate Romney has demonstrated, it is that he really is quite a remarkable liar. Romney's ran the basic bread-and-butter Republican playbook all throughout the primaries and he's still running it this summer. The meretricious use of the president's "You didn't build it" line. The truthless welfare baiting on the commercials. Sooner or later, he was going to get around to this particular line of bullshit because it's the obvious next step. Asking a Republican presidential candidate to abandon race-baiting entirely is to ask for an awful lot of 13-second Republican stump speeches. Asking Willard Romney to do it is to assume that there is muck so foul that he will not immerse himself in it to be president. Unless Curiosity finds mud on Mars, you're pretty much out of luck there.

(And not for nothing, but this is pretty much the way things worked when he was governor, too. He spent a lot of time wondering why he couldn't just fire the state legislature and outsource the courts to Indonesia.)

There was nothing Romney wouldn't do in business to make a buck. Why should we be surprised that he campaigns the same way? The real difference, of course, is that the president and his campaign are not luckless steelworkers or paper-company employees, anonymous to the people who keep the Bain ledgers and powerless to the people in the lovely house by the Pacific shores. They can hit back. Hard. And they don't feel obligated to ask his permission to do so.

"The president's campaign has put out a campaign that's talking about me and attacking me. I think it's just demeaning to the nature of the process, particularly when we face the kinds of challenges we face."

And it's his process, dammit. He can show you the receipt.

Since you can count on Rafalca's hooves the number of times in his life that Willard Romney has been in a fair fight, it's no great shock to discover that, since he can't fight hard, he'll fight dirty, because winning is not something you earn. Winning is something you inherit.

It is so obvious that the Republicans cannot stomach how Joe Biden speaks the truth about what the GOP has been about in Congress since January 2009. I love both President Obama and Vice President Biden. They have been a perfect team and it is clear that they get along so well. Isn't it great to have a vice president who does not remind us all of Darth Vader?
